Lunch Dates

Taking a break in the work day to meet the hubby for an outdoor lunch is great! The weather is always cool and after being stuck in an office all day the cold air is refreshing.
Everyday we meet halfway which happens to be the perfect lunch spot:

St. George's Churchyard Gardens with a nice view of the church itself.
The original church goes back to the Norman times but was rebuilt in the 14th century. Then it was damaged during World War II, so again it was restored in the 1950's. In the mornings on my walk to work, this church clock tower is very helpful! I often forget my phone, and not having a watch I just need to look up to know what time it is :)

It's such an interesting garden, as it has old tombstones laying around and recycled crushed glass designs.

The other interesting thing about this garden is the walls that enclose it.
"Beyond this old wall is the site of the old Marshalsea Prison, closed in 1842. This sign is attached to a remnant of the prison wall. Charles Dickens, whose father had been imprisoned here for debt in 1824, used that experience as the Mashalsea setting for his novel Little Dorrit."

HOT JAM!

OK. I know it sounds gross.
Yes, it is spicy but it is soooooooo goood!
It's spicy AND sweet and makes my taste buds dance
I never knew the English were into spicy food!
Im finding more of it here than there is at home.
This stuff is so freaking good!
I took a photo of the back of the jar so I knew where to get some.
Seriously, you have to try it.

This photo was taken early before this whole place was
crowded with wierd, drunken country folk!

Close to work

I can't even explain how cool it is to work down the street from these amazing historical landmarks.
It's Friday night and we thought it would be nice to walk home instead of taking a hot, crowded train.
We walked along the Thames River for a bit.
I've been lazy about carrying my camera lately and I was regretting it now.
I was also regretting not having any gloves! I had the camera phone available but it was hard having to snap a photo with freezing cold hands.

I looked back and had this view of the shard in construction

Looking down, there was this little "stream" of water flowing along the way.
I wonder how many people have accidently slipped their foot in it...
Even more exciting, you can see Tower Bridge in the distance.

London has such an interesting combination of old and new architecture.

New:

Old:
(The Tower of London, across the river)

(Tower Bridge)

and now, multiple shots of tower bridge taken on the phone.
I couldn't stop snapping, wishing I had my SLR on me.

My hands were too cold to keep taking photos.
I kept them in my pockets after this and we had a nice long walk home.

Our New Fiery Additions

Today we received our order of hot sauces!
Going home after work with big grins on our faces carrying this box.

The way Niall eats hot sauce: Globs it all over his food.
The way Sandra eats hot sauce: Pours some on a plate and dabs her food on it carefully.

When we got home I had some business to settle with the bank. So while I called them, Niall started making egg burritos (our favourite food to have new hot sauce with)

Of course I'm on hold for what seems an eternity.
Im ready to hang up but Niall tells me to just hang in there.
He brings me my plate with 2 burritos to eat while im on hold. One is with the less spicy sauce and one is with the sudden death sauce. I don't know which one is which so I start munching away.
The first burrito is not very spicy but tasty and I finish it quickly.
I pick up the second one and look at it to decide what end to bite off first. I decide to go for the end with the hot sauce oozing out of it. Take one bite. HOT. Take a second bite...OMG!!!!!! MY MOUTH WAS ON FIRE! and it just got hotter and hotter by the second. At this time Niall showed up with his burritos and a big glass of juice. By now I was yelling in agony, I immediately started gulping down all of Nialls juice as he's looking at me surprised. The juice isn't helping, my mouth is burning intensely now. I start yelling at him to go get me a glass of milk. He runs downstairs to the kitchen while I'm upstairs yelling at him to hurry up.
He comes running upstairs with my milk and im gulping it down but its just no use...AND I still have this phone to my ear on hold. At this point I'm sweating and hyperventilating and feeling very angry and frustrated at my burning mouth so I throw the receiver down and I'm still yelling *insert curse words* and running into the bedroom not knowing what to do. Im about to go downstairs to put anything in my mouth to cool it off, possibly run it under the tap?...THEN Niall is calling me because the bank has decided to pick up NOW. I go over and take a deep breath and try to tell them what I need as Im gasping for air because my mouth is on fire. The guy on the line keeps saying "what?", I say: "Can you hear me?!", he says: "yes but I can't understand you" So I try to focus on this pain and manage to talk between breaths. Having to make an effort calmed me down. That got sorted but my mouth and the outside of my lips were very red. Niall is looking at me with this scared puppy face.
I said WHY WOULD YOU PUT SO MUCH OF THAT IN THERE!?!
After it settled I still finished my burrito one nibble at a time. Then we had some ice cream to cool off.
Later I could feel it burning down my digestive tract.
I said..Ohh man! Im scared for whats gonna come out the other end!
